Thankful always.
"We ought to give thanks for all fortune: if it is good, because it is good, if bad, because it works in us patience, humility and the contempt of this world and the hope of our eternal country."
- C.S. Lewis
If we believe that God is good, and if we believe that He is in control, although difficult times come, we always have something to be thankful for. Every good gift comes from God. (James 1:17) In these blessings, we rejoice! Although God may not be the author of all the difficulty in our life, we can be grateful that He will use the tough times for our benefit. (Romans 8:28) For this we can be thankful. Although life brings pain, we can be grateful that one day He will wipe away every tear, and bring us into our everlasting home in Heaven. (Revelation 21:4) Maybe you are going through a tough time right now, many of us our. In those times, Scripture encourages us to dwell on the unshakable reality that God is with us, He is working all things out for our good, and that we always have so many things to be thankful for.
Expressing gratitude.
“Genuine thankfulness is an act of the heart’s affections, not an act of the lips’ muscles.”
- John Piper
We are called time and time again to be thankful. Why? God knows that an attitude of gratitude is good for us. When we are grateful, is it difficult to be angry, anxious, discouraging, and unloving. When we are grateful, we are joyful, energized, and compassionate. God desires us to be thankful because thankful people are joyful people, and joyful people are a reflection of who God is.
Let us express our thankfulness through loving others, meeting the needs of our community, and ultimately giving all glory back to God.
